Introducing Wagner Titanus Smoke Detection

HOW IT WORKS?

Limited sensitivity of point-type detectors
Point-type smoke detectors measure the light obscuration of smoke aerosols in the detector's environment. In general the ambient air also contains various particles (dust, exhaust gases, etc.). Therefore, point-type detectors operate on a wide aerosol size range and can find it hard to accurately differentiate smoke aerosols from other "environmental influences".
In most stable environments this is no problem and appropriate protection is guaranteed. In difficult conditions, however, the reliability of point-type detectors is severely impaired because of the diverse environmental interferences.

Sensitivity, risk height, high air speeds
High ceilings or high air speeds lead to air turbulence and smoke dilution in air-conditioned rooms. This requires a considerably higher detection sensitivity if fire is to be detected in its initial stages.

Fire detection during the pyrolysis phase
High sensitivity smoke detection systems are capable of detecting a fire before visible smoke is produced so damage can be prevented. These systems are normally used in technical areas where the operational continuity of the systems is paramount - especially in mainframe centres or telecommunications switches.

Dust, dirt, humidity, extreme temperatures
Despite higher sensitivity dust, dirt, humidity, or extreme temperature influences do not necessarily lead to false alarms or faults.

Elimination of influences
The air sampling smoke detection systems can be protected against influences using filters and intelligent signal processing algorithms. The detectors can be equipped with a higher smoke sensitivity and also be individually adapted to site conditions.

Accessibility, aesthetics
It can be difficult to guarantee access to point detectors in voids, locked rooms etc so maintenance becomes costly. In case of an aesthetic room design the relatively obtrusive appearance of point-type detectors is often unwelcome.

Advantages for maintenance and design
Air sampling smoke detection systems offer advantages for maintenance and service. For applications in floor voids and cable ducts the detection units can be installed outside these areas so that they are easily accessible to maintenance personnel.
Air sampling smoke detection systems can be almost invisibly integrated into building architecture. Demanding aesthetic requirements are entirely satisfied.
